Chapter 1, website and AI chat: every lead answered in seconds
The opening's mountains are a long way off: the story happens at home in Fort Lauderdale, where the coast is flat. 11:42 pm. Daniel has outgrown his Sundancer 320. He's found three 42′ flybridges online and written to all three dealers; two of them won't see his message till morning. He finds a 2016 42′ flybridge on Tarpon Bay Marine's website and asks in the chat if it's still available. The dealer's AI assistant, powered by Leading Beacon, answers in under a second: she's at the Fort Lauderdale docks, twin Volvo IPS 500s at 900 hours, two cabins and two heads, $389,000. Then he asks whether they'd take his 2017 Sea Ray Sundancer 320 in trade. Trade numbers come from the owner, so the AI asks for the hours, any loan and a few photos, sends them to Marco, and asks if it can call Daniel at 8:00 with the answer, saying up front that the call will come from the dealership's AI assistant and be recorded. Daniel says yes, and the callback is booked.
